Namibia site is part of the Trials of Excellence in Southern Africa (TESA) network which was established during the EDCTP phase 1 period with the objective of creating a framework for collaboration, capacity building and training among institutions from different Southern African countries. The Namibia TESA site is held at the University of Namibia Hage Geingob Campus, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences. The team of Tesea Namibia is led by Dr Sheehama Jacob a Biomedical Scientist Josefina Nelongo (Training and development Coordinator), Florence Guriras (Accountant – Donor Funded Projects), Ms Toini Hatuikulipi (Pathologist), Mr Nghoshi Severeni (Field Epidemiologist), Mr D Haufiku Oshakati Campus, Mr Iitula Iitula (entomologist).
The site research interest capacity, professional research experience in: TB-HIV infection diagnostics trials, Vector borne diseases - Malaria prevention and control. The Site is having access to the infectious diseases laboratory, DNA Sequencer in Windhoek, The Malaria insectary in Oshakati, The TESA Namibia research team and site is to strengthen and enhance the capacities for clinical trials research in Namibia with Southern Africa partners institution and international partners. TESA Namibia have so far benefited from this engagement with the coordinating site in Mozambique and other well research established sites in the network. built during TESA I, as well as to increase the collaboration and North-South and South-South networking activities among member institution
